And, on another note, the 16B won their finals and are in the Grand Final this weekend (weather depending!) – great effort. Match report below:
U16B v Sans Souci Won 3-2
Impossible to recall such an exciting, nail-biting and rollercoaster game in a long time!!! We played at Carss Bush Park, kicking off at 10:50am under a very overcast, grey sky. We were praying it wouldn’t rain as we wanted our boys to have the best chance possible of a win. Our prayers were answered. All our boys turned up and started off with a pep-talk/huddle in the middle of the field before the game got under way. The boys have been playing together for many years and most have grown up together since little boys so are a close-knit team.
The first goal of the day was scored by us but, unfortunately, not counted as one of our players was offside. That put a bit of a dampener on things, especially when Sans Souci scored the next goal which was counted! We caught up though with Dylan scoring a mad free kick goal just before half time, making the half time score 1-1.
As the skies were growing darker, Dylan managed to score his second goal of the day. We were hoping for one more goal to seal the game but the luck was reversed and a goal was kicked by Sans Souci, making the score 2 all! As the end of the second half was drawing closer everyone was on edge knowing the the next goal would seal the match by either side. Everyone played so well, the forwards, the defence, mid-fielders and of course, Jack in goalkeeper. In the final minutes, our efforts paid off with Jeremy scoring the game-winning goal that we needed to place us next week in the Grand Final against Connells Point. YAY!!!!! Well done boys, you are our heroes!!! Good luck next week.
