The Richo Cup – Monday 8 June
Next Monday, 8 June, marks an important date in the Rangers calendar – The Richo Cup.
The Cup is being held to both honour and remember a great club member and passionate advocate for our sport, Matt (Richo) Richardson, who sadly passed away while playing the game he so loved. The Richo Cup is a round robin knock-out comp, for both men and women, being held at Gannons Park, commencing from around 8.15 with a tribute to Matt, with the first game kicking-off at 8.45 and the last at around 3.15.
This family day is not only a celebration of Matt’s contribution to football, but also an opportunity to learn about healthy living, and encouraging our footballers to get regular health checks to prevent more tragedies from occurring both on and off the football field.
There will be jumping castles and small sided fields set up for the kids and full canteen facilities available. Raffle tickets will be on sale, with mega prizes, and winners drawn after the last game.
Every cent raised will go towards buying defibrillators for as many grounds in the St George area as possible.
So, come along, bring a crowd, and bring chairs and shade (and your own “adult drinks”).
We very much look forward to seeing a huge crowd at Gannons Park next Monday.
(PS Competition team registrations have now closed – contact your Club Secretary or President for information about your Club teams).
