Wow – what an amazing day! The weather was kind and we had a huge turnout of players, supporters, health professionals and sponsors, all to remember and celebrate Richo’s contribution to the sport he so loved while raising awareness of health and fitness. It was particularly wonderful to see all the refs, who all donated their time, having a blast and joining in the spirit of the day.

• Dom D’onofrio, winner of the Guy Rothwell Memorial Medal for best and fairest man’s player
• The winner of the Marge Henness Medal for best and fairest women’s player (she’s in the picture!)

On behalf of our Club, and I am sure all others as well, our Committee and Players wish to thank you for all your efforts together with the army of community minded volunteers that worked tirelessly to arrange, host, participate and ultimately pull off what can only be described as a hugely successful RICHO Day on 8 June celebrating true community spirit and the memory of close football friends no longer with us. Congratulations to everyone involved and to all SGFA Clubs as the day exemplified all things good in our community, raised awareness of serious health issues and may also one day prove the difference to prevent further tragedies from occurring.

I think Matt would say WTF has happened in the last year??! It’s been an amazing year for me and the kids, with Monday another step forward in coming to terms with Matt’s death. I can’t thank all the volunteers enough, and especially you Tony xxxxx.

We raised an amazing $25,000 towards buying defibrillators for all grounds in the St George Association, so well done everyone, we can’t wait to do it all again next year!
