Female Football at Forest Rangers FC
Forest Rangers FC is a friendly and family oriented club that has grown over many years to become one of the largest female soccer clubs within the St George Football Association.
Forest Rangers has female representation at all levels of our club (players, coaches, managers, referees, canteen and committee) and cater for females of all ages and abilities.
FRFC currently have the following team allocations on offer:
- Girls only teams for ages 6 – 11
- Mixed teams (with boys) for ages 5 to 11
- Competition Girls teams from age 12-16
- Women’s teams in several grades including 17-21 years, All Age Women’s and Women’s Premier League team.
Forest Rangers FC recently appointed Amanda Marino as their Technical Director for Women’s Football which has enabled the club to develop a structured plan and support program to further improve the football experience for our female players and their coaches.
Amanda’s appointment will also allow for our club to participate in St George forums to further develop and promote female football in our region.
Recently, Amanda was also 1 of 4 women in NSW who was successful in attaining an inaugural Female Coaching Scholarship from Football NSW.
Our Women’s Football program works collaboratively with the St George Football Association and Sydney FC in providing opportunities for our female players to participate in W-League events as well as ‘motivate and inspire’ sessions with well-known Female Football players.
The program also offers ‘Coach the Coach’ sessions and opportunities for coaching qualifications.
What day do females play?
Girls teams from the age of 5 to 7 play on Saturday morning. Girls of age 7 to 9 can play on Saturday morning or Sunday morning. All older girls’ teams and women play on Sunday. Mixed teams (girls and boys) from the age of 5 to 11 play on Saturday.
Should my daughter play in the mixed or girls comp?
Up to the age of 11 you can choose the comp that your daughter will enjoy most. Many girls are a lot more confident and get more touches of the ball in an all-girls comp. The rules, fields and cost are exactly the same.
What comps are available for female players 17 and above?
In 2021, St George had five Women’s grades (U17s-21s, AAWC, AAWB, AAWA, PWL) and our club fielded teams in the U17s-21s, AAWC, AAWB and PWL divisions. Females turning 17 this year and above can play in the women’s comp. There is an O30s women’s comp that plays a reduced season with games scheduled for Friday nights.
